President Mahama Vows Relentless Fight Against Drug Trafficking

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance policy on drug trafficking, vowing to prevent Ghana from being used as a transit or final destination for illicit drugs.

His assurance follows claims by the Minority in Parliament that the country has become a safe haven for drug trafficking and money laundering.

In response, President Mahama has directed all relevant security agencies, including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police CID, the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator, to work closely with Parliament’s Minority to investigate these concerns.

In a social media post, the President referenced allegations made by MP Rev. John Ntim Fordjour regarding two suspicious flights that recently arrived at Kotoka International Airport, suspected to be linked to drug trafficking and money laundering.

“Government takes all allegations seriously, and to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation, I have directed all relevant investigative agencies to immediately and fully collaborate with the Honourable Member of Parliament. He must provide all necessary information to investigate the allegations and take all action necessary to expose any drug dealing,” Mahama stated.

He also highlighted a recent high-profile drug bust by the NIB, which intercepted $350 million worth of narcotics, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to cracking down on organized crime.

With mounting concerns over Ghana’s security vulnerabilities, Mahama has assured the public that his government will remain steadfast in eliminating drug trafficking networks across the country.
