Kennedy Agyapong Concedes Defeat in NPP 2026 Presidential Primaries

Presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)Kennedy Agyapong, has conceded defeat in the party’s 2026 presidential primaries, even as the official results are yet to be declared.

Addressing the media after a significant portion of ballots had been counted, Agyapong said the outcome did not come as a surprise, noting that he suffered a similar loss during the 2023 NPP primaries.

“Setbacks Are Part of Politics”

The outspoken politician urged his supporters to remain calm and united, stressing that political setbacks should not be allowed to discourage them.

“God will take care of you. He knew today was going to come, we did not know, but God who created us knew this would come to pass. We experienced this in 2023, so today is no different,” Agyapong said.

He encouraged his followers to accept the outcome in good faith and remain hopeful about the future.

“Everyone should stay calm. We have champagne, one beer, eat what you can, and let’s see what God has for us,” he added.

Provisional Results Favor Bawumia

Provisional results from several polling stations indicate that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is in a comfortable lead, with Kennedy Agyapong trailing behind as collation continues.

Despite conceding, Agyapong stated that he is not perturbed by the results and remains confident about his political journey ahead.

Official Declaration Awaited

The Electoral Commission has not yet officially declared the winner of the NPP’s 2026 presidential primary. Party supporters and the general public are awaiting the final announcement as the counting and verification process continues.
