Government Orders Joint Investigation Into Alleged Drug Dealings, Pledges Tough Stance on Trafficking

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police CID, the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator have been directed to collaborate with the Minority in Parliament to investigate and expose any alleged drug dealings in Ghana.

This directive was issued by President John Dramani Mahama in a statement shared on Sunday, April 1, 2025, following a press conference led by Rev. Ntim Fordjour, a key Minority figure in Parliament.

“Government takes all allegations seriously, and to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation, I have directed all relevant investigative agencies—including NACOC, the Police CID, the NIB, and the National Security Coordinator—to immediately and fully collaborate with the Honourable Member of Parliament. He must provide all necessary information to investigate the allegations and take all action necessary to expose any drug dealing,” the President’s statement read.

The President reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating drug trafficking in Ghana, assuring the public that his administration will not allow the country to become a transit point for narcotics.

This latest move signals a strong crackdown on illicit drug operations, with security agencies now set to unravel and dismantle any networks involved.
