ECG Announces Scheduled Maintenance to Enhance Power Supply Reliability

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced planned maintenance works in selected areas of the Greater Accra and Western Regions on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure reliable and efficient power delivery.

In an official statement, ECG indicated that the maintenance exercise is necessary to upgrade infrastructure and strengthen the distribution network, ensuring better service quality for its valued customers.

Affected Areas and Schedule

  • Greater Accra Region:
Maintenance will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting areas including Mensvic Hotel, Lancet Medical Laboratory, Ghana Link, Franko Estate, Ofankor, and surrounding communities.

  • Western Region:
Maintenance is scheduled between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, impacting Agona, Dupaul, Apremdo, Whindo, Kwesimintsim, Assakae, Mpatado, Adientem, and nearby areas.

ECG expressed its regret for any inconvenience caused and appealed to the public for patience and understanding as the company works to improve the stability and performance of the power supply system.

Response to Recent Weather-Related Outages

The company also acknowledged recent power outages triggered by severe rainstorms and strong winds, which resulted in damaged electrical infrastructure, including fallen trees, collapsed billboards, and ripped roofs affecting power lines.

While most outages caused by transient tripping are quickly restored after storms subside, ECG explained that incidents involving permanent damage to feeders or conductors may require additional time for repairs. Engineers are actively addressing these issues to restore power as swiftly as possible.

Call for Vigilance and Prompt Reporting

ECG encouraged customers to report fallen or sagging power lines, localized outages, or any safety concerns through the following channels:

  • Call Center: 0302-611611

  • Nearest ECG Office

  • Social Media: @ECGghOfficial on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

“We remain committed to delivering safe, reliable electricity supply and strengthening the resilience of our network. Your cooperation and vigilance help us serve you better,” ECG stated.

Customers are advised to stay updated through ECG’s official platforms and to cooperate fully with maintenance teams working in their areas.
